A More Connected Spotify
In an era where streaming is so individualized, how can we maintain its convenience while shifting listeners towards experiences?

To many, Spotify represents the advent of personalization in music. Never was it this easy to find a song, likely any song that’s ever come your way, and listen to it in its original version. But the individual music listening experience has its limits. Your favorite artists drop songs, and you don’t realize until it’s randomly gone viral on Tiktok the next month. You don’t keep track of live events as much, and even if you do, you’re not sure who to go with. I envisioned a more connected Spotify by conducting research and redesigning the app to foster more community among listeners.
The first section on the app’s homepage is tabs for recently played playlists and podcasts, which is only repeated further down.
The “Recently Played” section repeats information from the top and also lacks relevant information like specific songs or episodes.
At the bottom is a collection of large reels that show snippets of a playlist, an album, or new content.
The overcrowding and repetition of audio pieces in the homepage combined with the randomness of the bottom feed creates a sense of disorientation redundancy. The confusing UI detracts from the navigability of this page, which also impacts the free exploration of other tabs from this page.
